Emirates cabin crew

Getting hired is the easy part.

Staying interesting to the airline afterwards is the part nobody teaches.

This is built on thirteen years inside Emirates cabin crew — the recruitment process from the outside and from behind it, and the career that starts once the offer arrives. Everything here is a tool, a document or a recording. There are no calls to book and no cohort to wait for.

The route in

Five stages. Most people only ever see two of them described.

i.

Apply, or walk in

An online application, or a walk-in Open Day. Emirates does not run virtual assessment days — the Open Day is in person.

ii.

The video interview

One-way, recorded, around twenty minutes. Three to five questions, thirty seconds to prepare and ninety seconds to answer each.

iii.

The Open Day

Four to six hours. CV drop, a thirty-second self-introduction, the reach test, a group exercise of eight to twelve people, then the English test.

iv.

The final interview

Around forty-five minutes, roughly twelve questions, answered in STAR structure.

v.

Offer, medical, visa

Then seven and a half weeks of training in Dubai.

Where people fall out

The stages that remove people are not the ones candidates prepare for.

The English test removes people who would have passed everything else, and there is no product anywhere that trains for it.

The reach test is 212cm on tiptoes. It is measured, and it is not negotiable.

A rejection carries a six-month cooldown before you may apply again.

In one year Emirates received around 3.5 million applications and hired around 9,700 people.

None of that is a comment on you. Hiring volume moves with fleet expansion, hiring freezes and regional politics. What you can control is arriving knowing exactly what the day contains.
